- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chunks (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.
- Whisk in cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips or chunks if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let cool before slicing into squares and serving.
Notes
Do not overbake for the best chewy texture. Brownies will continue to cook slightly as they cool. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
