Hey there I’m Megan. I’m 43, a mom of two incredible (and endlessly hungry) teenagers, and I’ve called Arizona home my whole life. These days, we live in a cozy house on the outskirts of Prescott, where the kitchen is always warm, the back door is usually open, and someone’s always asking, “What smells so good?”
Where It All Began
Cooking, for me, started as a way to connect. As a kid, I’d watch my dad make smoky carne asada on an old grill. My mom stir giant pots of pozole on Sunday mornings. But it wasn’t until I became a mom myself that I truly understood what feeding someone really means. It’s love, It’s comfort, It’s a quiet “I’ve got you” in a world that’s often moving too fast.
For a long time, I cooked between naps and soccer practices. Learning to stretch a dollar, sneak vegetables into everything, and get dinner on the table while answering homework questions. It wasn’t glamorous, but it taught me creativity, patience, and how to really trust my instincts. Somewhere along the way, I started writing down recipes, teaching local moms to meal prep without losing their minds, and eventually hosting backyard dinners where strangers turned into friends over homemade tamales and grilled peaches.
I didn’t go to culinary school I went to the school of life, chaos, and trial by fire. And I’m proud of that. I’ve burned things, I’ve cried into pie dough, I’ve pulled off meals with a baby on my hip and only three ingredients in the fridge. But I’ve also made dishes that stopped people mid-bite, that brought my kids to the counter asking for seconds, that made tired neighbors feel seen and fed. That’s what keeps me going.
Come Into My Kitchen
These days, I teach cooking workshops both in-person and online, geared toward real people with real lives. I love helping folks figure out how to make food that’s both doable and delicious. Whether it’s a quick Tuesday night pasta or a full-on weekend feast. I geek out over local produce, spicy condiments, slow-braised meats, and fluffy biscuits. I’ve got a soft spot for cast iron and an ongoing love affair with roasted garlic.
If you’re here because you want to fall in love with cooking again, or maybe for the first time, I hope my story helps you feel right at home. I don’t believe in perfection. I believe in flavor, in laughter, in learning, and in feeding people with your whole heart.
So welcome. Come into the kitchen, pull your hair back, and let’s cook something that makes you proud.
